Dysarthria

This speech difficulty typically follows a stroke or brain injury, though not always. Regardless, the difficulty with speech can be extremely limiting and frustrating, especially when speaking to strangers or on the telephone where gestures are eliminated. We understand and can help.

Dysarthria is treated by exercises targeting the speech muscles involved, and the treatment plan varies per individual. However, in general, strategies are taught and rehearsed for immediate effect on speech clarity while we work on exercises to increase strength and improve function over time. Therapy works!
